At the December meeting on Tuesday 12th , Belton W.I. held their Christmas Party.  Members and guests joined together for this happy and friendly occasion with lots of laughter and chattering.  After enjoying a delicious buffet spread, solving a table quiz and receiving gifts, we were entertained with a musical quiz.  The evening was completed with the singing of Carols.  Thanks were given to the Committee for organising the party and to Liz for playing the piano.  Happy Christmas to all and a prosperous and healthy New Year in 2018.

PRESENT AND PAST MEMBERS REMEMBERED

Dulcie Gunstone and Rona Stewart R.I.P

In December 2015 Beton W.I. Lost two of their respected and loved members of the institute.
Dulcie was founder member of Belton W.I. And served as the president for some years. She was a well respected member and worked hard for the institute. She will be sadly missed by all her many friends. Rest in peace Dulcie. Rona passed away in December. She will be so missed by her friends in Belton W.I. She was a well respected and hard working member of the committee for many years, who could forget her rendition of “Sisters” or her portrayal of a “Bag lady”. She meant so much to all of us. Rest in peace Rona.

Belton W I celebrate their Diamond Jubilee

On Thursday 23rd April 2015, Belton W.I. held an evening at the JGI to celebrate their Diamond Jubilee.  Invited guests included Wendy Adams, Norfolk Federation Chairman, Cindy Brookes, Norfolk Federation Secretary and W.I. Advisers, Ann Simons and Carol Cousins.  One of our special guests was Evelyn McClintock, an amazing lady, now in her 90’s, who was one of the founding members of Belton W.I. in 1955.  In recognition of this, she was presented with a bouquet of flowers.  Members and guests were warmly welcomed by Belton W.I. President, Barbara Clark and enjoyed an evening of conversation and food, including a birthday cake baked and iced by one of our Committee members.  This was followed with entertainment from Patsy Rose, who encouraged us to join in with many of the songs that we recognised from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.  Both Wendy and Patsy Rose reminisced on many of the different events that had occurred in 1955.  It was an excellent and friendly occasion, enjoyed by all.
